CRAFT YOUR OWN

Discover the artistry and functionality of Turkey Wing Whisk Brooms in this engaging workshop. These distinctive brooms are not only effective for cleaning but also carry a rustic charm and a rich heritage.

In this hands-on class, you will:
  • Explore Tradition: Delve into the history and cultural significance of the Turkey Wing Whisk Broom, learning about its origins–which date back well over 200 years–and practical uses.
  • Learn Techniques: Under guided instruction, master the techniques needed to assemble and shape the Turkey Wing Whisk Broom using a low sugar content sorghum and a variety of strong nylon string with simple tools.
  • Personalize Your Broom: Customize your natural broom corn base with your choice of string and a piece of broom corn seed or red dyed broom corn for decoration making each broom unique.
  • Take Home Your Creation: Leave the workshop with your own handcrafted Turkey Wing Whisk Broom, ready to adorn your home or be gifted to someone special. Your Turkey Wing Broom will be great for cleaning car mats, small rugs, craft tables, work benches and more.

In this hands-on workshop, you will:
  • Learn the Tradition: Discover the fascinating history and cultural significance behind the Hawk Tail Broom which dates back to the early 1900’s.
  • Master the Craft: Under guided instruction, learn step-by-step techniques to assemble and decorate your own Hawk Tail Broom.
  • Personalize Your Broom: Customize your creation with your choice of string and red, black or natural broom corn color scheme.
  • Take Home Your Creation: Leave with a beautifully crafted Hawk Tail Broom that is both functional and a work of art, ready to grace your home or gift to a loved one. The Hawk Tail Broom is a handheld broom that works well to sweep and dust many surfaces like desktops, table tops, work benches, shelves and even upholstered surfaces.
